CloseSaul had been the Poster Boy of anti-Christianity. He had a big case of “Christophobia.” But God loved Saul (later named Paul) more than Saul hated God. God did whatever it took to bring Saul to conversion. So, on the Road to Damascus there was a dramatic encounter that brought Saul to his knees. He was made blind so that his eyes might become open. He was destined to become the great Apostle Paul. Our personal story may not be quite as dramatic, but it is no less miraculous than Saul’s conversion. By our nature we were blind, dead and enemies of God until He opened our eyes by the operation of the Spirit through Word and Sacrament to being us to faith and right standing with God.
