CloseThere’s a lot of recruiting going on. It’s happening all the time. You’re the target of the recruiters, who try to get you on their team. Jesus warned about “False Recruiters,” who are always looking for people to work on the dark side. He said that “many false prophets will arise and lead many astray.” Matthew 24:11. Their offers are attractive, just like bait is to a fish. But with the bait is a hook, and the next step is the pan. The false recruiters offer much that appears attractive but deliver disappointment and death. What does Jesus offer? He is the Master Recruiter. He started with 12 who followed Him, and today there are multiple millions. The benefits may not appear attractive at first. “Deny yourself, take up your cross daily, and follow me.” That’s the “sales pitch.” But the person and mission of Jesus were so compelling that when Jesus said “follow me,” the first disciples left all and followed Him. Is the person of Jesus compelling to us as well? Does his revolutionary mission to rescue humankind inspire us to great sacrifice?
