Jesus continues and completes what He starts. Jesus started building a church. He gathered disciples, gave them instructions and then, it seemed, quite abruptly left it. What Jesus began Jesus is continuing today. He did not leave the disciples or the church but comes to us with a renewing vigor daily to build the church through us. The Ascension of Jesus was not to abandon but to activate his people and launch them into history’s final act. He supplies the motive, the mission, the message, the means and the muscle.
