Lights are Going Out
Usually we don’t think of ourselves as aliens. Aliens are foreign folks; people from another country or maybe beings from another planet. We might think that though they are here, they don’t belong. In our message series we've come to the point in history where the northern Kingdom of Israel, the 10 tribes that seceded from “One Nation Under God,” is invaded by the mighty Assyrians. The captives were forcibly taken off and exiled into the various nations of the Assyrian Empire. They were aliens. So are we. We live in a world where we don’t really belong. Our real citizenship is in heaven. Our race is that we are Children of God. The culture of this world is alien to us. Though we live in it, we are not of it.
